Trump Prose Poem, a.k.a. Potus Takes a Snooze

By Stan Persky | April 14, 2019

When the bough breaks, down will come baby, cradle and all.

My fantasy. Donald Trump goes to sleep. We have a whole day with no Tweets, no Presidential Executive Orders attacking refugees or transgender people, no lies, no “fire and fury” nuclear threats or expressions of affection for dictators, no “Lock her up!” cheerleading, no attacks on the media as “enemies of the people,” no racist slurs, no Climate Emergency denials, no conspiracy theory raving. Meanwhile, the world gets a little better: the army coup leaders in Sudan and Algeria agree to civilian government transition, British Parliament grants a second referendum, Maduro resigns in Venezuela after negotiated settlement, citizens take a smartphone holiday. Remember, the Presidency isn’t over until the obese man sleeps, and we all get a Sunday off.
